NICOLE BRUNO, BA

Master's Level Intern

Nicole (she/her) is a compassionate and skilled Master’s-level intern in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University. Under the supervision of licensed clinicians, she provides therapy to individuals and couples navigating a variety of challenges. She specializes in trauma-informed care and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), empowering clients to heal from trauma, rebuild trust, and discover peace within themselves and their relationships.

Drawing on many years of life experience, in addition to her clinical training, Nicole brings warmth, insight, and authenticity to her work. As her client base has grown, she has discovered a special passion for working with couples, both together and individually, which allows her to see the bigger systemic picture and support relational healing from multiple perspectives. She also has strong interests in relational struggles, intimacy, sexuality, parenting challenges, autism spectrum disorder support, and addictions, and is passionate about helping clients create positive patterns that foster resilience, connection, and growth. Rooted in EFT and Narrative Therapy, she adapts her approach to meet clients where they are, tailoring treatment to their unique needs.

Her academic journey includes graduating Summa Cum Laude with her undergraduate degree and continuing to excel in her graduate program. During her residencies, she refined her therapeutic micro-skills under the mentorship of experienced clinicians, gaining specialized training in addictions counseling, grief and loss work, trauma-focused methods, sex therapy and EFT. Nicole is also a proud advocate for sex-positive, inclusive therapy and a strong supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, helping clients embrace healthy sexuality and deepen intimacy.

Nicole’s personal experiences with trauma, both her own and her children’s, have shaped her deep passion for walking alongside others as they navigate their own healing journeys. She believes therapy is most effective when it is collaborative, adaptive, and grounded in trust, where clients feel truly seen, heard, and supported.

“In the safety of connection, healing becomes possible. Our deepest wounds are often created in relationships, and it is through relationships that they can be transformed. Every story carries the possibility of change, and I believe in meeting you exactly where you are as you uncover your strength and resilience.” – Nicole Bruno
