SKYLER BEMESDERFER BA
Master's Level Intern
Skyler (she/her) is a graduate-level intern working toward her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Millersville University. She brings a strong foundation of hands-on experience to her clinical work, having supported individuals across a range of ages and backgrounds through both her undergraduate and graduate-level field placements.
Skyler has previously worked in residential and community-based settings, where she provided direct care, facilitated therapeutic activities, and gained meaningful experience supporting survivors of complex trauma. Her time at a residential home for survivors of sex trafficking deepened her understanding of trauma-informed care and the importance of compassionate, individualized support.

Skyler has developed experience working with young adults navigating anxiety, identity exploration, and life transitions, as well as with children learning to understand and express their emotions. She strives to create a warm, developmentally attuned, and affirming environment that allows clients to explore their inner worlds safely and openly.

In her clinical approach, Skyler draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and person-centered modalities, integrating these methods to meet the unique needs of each client. She values curiosity, reflection, and flexibility, believing that therapy works best when it is collaborative, adaptive, and grounded in trust.
Skyler’s commitment to fostering a nonjudgmental and empathetic space is shaped by both her professional and personal experiences.

Having navigated her own journey of healing and recovery after a serious injury in early adulthood, she developed a deep appreciation for resilience, vulnerability, and human connection. This perspective continues to inform her work and reinforces her belief that meaningful healing happens when clients feel truly seen, heard, and understood.
