SKYLER BEMESDERFER, MS

Pre-Licensed Therapist

Skyler (she/her) is a Master’s-level clinician who earned her degree in Clinical Psychology from Millersville University. She brings a strong foundation of hands-on clinical experience to her work, having supported individuals across a wide range of ages and backgrounds through undergraduate and graduate-level training experiences.

Skyler has worked in both residential and community-based settings, where she provided direct care, facilitated therapeutic activities, and supported individuals with complex and intersecting needs. Her time at a residential home for survivors of sex trafficking deepened her understanding of trauma-informed care and the importance of compassionate, individualized support.

Skyler has developed experience working with young adults navigating anxiety, identity exploration, and life transitions, as well as with children learning to understand and express their emotions. She has a particular passion for working with children and incorporates play therapy as a developmentally appropriate approach to help young clients communicate, process experiences, and build emotional regulation skills. She views play as a powerful vehicle for expression, connection, and healing when words are not yet accessible. Skyler strives to create a warm, developmentally attuned, and affirming therapeutic environment where clients feel safe to explore their inner worlds openly and at their own pace.

In her clinical approach, Skyler draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), play therapy, and person-centered modalities. She integrates these approaches collaboratively, tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs, strengths, and goals. She values curiosity, reflection, and flexibility, and believes therapy is most effective when it is grounded in trust and mutual respect.

Skyler’s commitment to fostering a nonjudgmental and empathetic space is shaped by both her professional and personal experiences. Having navigated her own journey of healing and recovery following a serious injury in early adulthood, she developed a deep appreciation for resilience, vulnerability, and human connection. This perspective continues to inform her work and reinforces her belief that meaningful healing occurs when clients feel truly seen, heard, and understood.
